Oldies station playing music predominantly from the 1980s, with a smaller portion of airtime dedicated to music from the late 1950s to 1970s. LASER558 is of historical and nostalgic interest, re-creating the feel of pirate radio from the 1980s and following the exact same format as the original LASER558 which broadcast from 1984 to 1985. LASER558 has a memorable history in the UK and Western Europe, attracting 10 million listeners in its day. This station, still attracting many of the original listeners through other platforms, is an authentic re-creation using original elements.

LASER558 also includes a dedicated ‘Sixties Sunday’ from 6 am until 6 pm and other distinctive features of the original broadcasts. 

In 1984, the original LASER558 became an instant hit for listeners who wanted more music and less talk. LASER’s music format changed how UK stations operated as more and more people started listening to the ‘pirates’. Although its life was short, LASER558 paved a path that is still followed today.
